The Ranthambore Fort is located inside the Ranthambore National Park which served as the hunting ground for the Maharajas of the Jaipur dynasty. It is placed in the town of Sawai Madhopur in the city of Jaipur. The grand and imposing fort of Ranthambore has witnessed a huge number of attacks and conquests. 

The remarkable Ranthambore Fort was built by the Chauhan rulers in the 10th century and because of its considered location, it was ideal to keep the enemies at bay. It is an impressive fort that has been the focal point of all the major historical developments that have happened in Rajasthan. The fort is packed with temples, tanks, massive gates and huge walls.

While visiting the Ranthambore fort, you can also visit the charming pink city of Jaipur and explore the historical abundance as well as the cultural heritage of the area or you can visit the Kachida Valley, the Surwal Lake, the Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve and some of the other historical places such as the Jogi Mahal, Raj Bagh Ruins, Ganesha temple and the Jain Temple.

There are three Hindu temples dedicated to Ganesh, Shiva and Ramlalaji inside the Ranthambore fort which have been constructed in 12th and 13th centuries from red Karauli stone. The time which is considered best to visit the Ranthambore fort is between the months of October and February before the scorching heat of the desert kicks in.

This fort grandly stands on top of a hill overlooking the entire park and you can walk up to the park since no other mode of transport is actually available from there. The walk is up till the park is believed to be very refreshing and thrilling one and you can also avail the chance of spotting some big cats up there. The view around you will keep getting better and better as you go up although the view from the fort can only be described as mesmerizing. It is suggested that you take along with you a nice pair of binoculars and also a camera with a very powerful lens when visiting the fort.

You will get to explore the soaring Serpent eagles, vultures and other several birds. Also, many animals can be seen along the ends of all the water bodies, which are all visible from the Ranthambore Fort. The fort offers many fascinating architectural and historical sites that are absolutely worth viewing and capturing. If you are a first time visitor to the Ranthambore National park then a trip to the fort is a must visit. It is always a good idea to book a local guide who has a good knowledge of the fort's history and background for a better experience. 

For the tourists who wish to travel by air to the fort must land at the Jaipur (Sanganer) airport from where the fort is at a distance of about 180 kilometers away. The tourists on reaching can hire taxis or buses from the Sanganer Airport to reach the Ranthambore securely.

The people who wish to travel by train to reach the Ranthambore fort must get down at the Sawai Madhopur Railway Station which is at a distance of 10 kilometers from the Ranthambore fort and can be reached via the taxi or other state transport.

As such, there is nothing special about the food at ranthambore. It has the usual north Indian food that can be found everywhere. It is a place which is loved by tourists from across the world solely due to the significant Ranthambhore fort and the Tiger Reserve.
